DX initiatives
1. Direction of business management and IT utilization
①Our management philosophy states that "NSS anticipates the changing times and responds promptly to customer needs with advanced technical capabilities." Through DX promotion, we advance productivity improvements, workstyle reform, and reviews of existing operations by introducing and applying digital technology — establishing new mechanisms to deliver added value to customers and society.
②As our vision, by optimizing every step from quotation through delivery and sales, we will deliver shorter lead times, lower prices, and higher quality to customers, creating new value while reducing environmental load.
③Through the newly established DX Department, we are evolving legacy systems and integrating them with new ones such as the electronic recipe. One-device-per-employee rollout is complete across the company, and we are building a seamless, real-time new operating model.
※Electronic recipe: an in-house system that consolidates each product and its processing conditions into shared data.
2. Concrete strategy for business management and IT utilization
Manufacturing
- •Effective application and rollout of the electronic recipe
- •Location management of jigs and tools
Indirect departments
- •Digitization of internal documents and paperless data management with workflow construction
- •Daily process management and inventory tracking
- •Accurate quotations through man-hour calculation and tracking of actual man-hours
- •Promotion of remote work and rule-making
Company-wide
- •Transform operations through improvement proposals against current business processes.
- •Develop internal infrastructure and management systems (establishing a promotion organization centered on specialist hires, and introducing hardware and software).
- •Develop specialist personnel through external DX training and upskill all employees via in-house workshops.
- •Manage information in the cloud, with each employee accessing it from their device for communication, submission, and collection. We aim to share a common database across all processes and all employees.
This enables linked data flow across quotation — design — order receipt — order placement — process management — machine program — measurement — inspection record — delivery slip — sales.
3. Organization for effective execution
The DX Promotion Office has been elevated to the DX Department this fiscal year, with one new IT-track hire added to the team. The President continues to serve as the executive lead, and DX representatives selected from each department drive the strategy. DX Department members regularly attend external training and site visits, and are also responsible for internal awareness and employee education. We also work with the external organizations NICO and NAZE to gather a range of information.
4. Concrete measures for DX promotion
In promoting DX, we continually examine current issues and future direction, and drive forward proactively with digital technology and data utilization in mind.
①Using the tablets deployed to all employees, we are rebuilding business processes through paperless operations and integration with core systems.
②We use groupware and web conferencing as communication tools and are piloting partial remote work. We also operate appropriate information sharing with employees on business trips.
③Moving away from being forced to conform to legacy systems' specifications, we will select appropriate systems or use in-house developed ones to run efficient operations.
④Concerned about a shortage of DX-capable personnel, we hold training sessions to develop people who can apply DX in their own departments. As part of digital talent development, 11 members from various departments completed a one-year web-based program.
5. Indicators for DX strategy progress
①For daily and monthly DX-targeted data operations, aggregate task results from work reports into monthly total hours and track the trend.
②Cumulative trend in master-data registrations.
③Verify the difference in production man-hours before and after registering products in the system.
6. Information dissemination to drive the strategy
①The President personally communicates DX policies and visions in a timely manner through all-hands morning briefings and the internal portal site.
②We use the website and newsletters to share DX initiatives in a timely manner.
7. Security measures
We have made the "SECURITY ACTION" two-star self-declaration and are committed to information security measures. For malware countermeasures, we have introduced EDR to detect attacks against endpoints and respond to threats. Anticipating that 100% prevention of cyberattacks is not possible, we have also purchased cyber insurance.
